Irony !
Situational irony is occurring as the character push the date of suicide to Valentine's day however due to their constant journey to finding purpose they keep pushing the date even further until the day they decide that they have way too much stuff to leave behind thereby quitting the idea of suicide.
Dramatic Irony can be observed as J.J's character reveals the true reason for his need to commit to suicide to the readers while he lies to his friends Jess, Martin and Maureen regarding his reason for committing suicide. He lies to his friends and tell's them that he is suffering from a chronic illness and wants to die quickly so he doesn't cause anyone any pain however his real reason for committing suicide is later revealed to his friends as he believes that in order for them to help him they need to understand the full story.
