Time period
The story starts off on New Year's eve and ends with March 31st. Time is considered an important element in this story as the characters keep postponing the date of death trying to prolong their life and see the new events that are going to unfold in their life if they gave life a chance. Finally on March 31st the realize that their life is not as horrible but nevertheless they decide another date for their suicide even though they know that suicide was never an option in their life. They understand that to cure her boredom they needed to give life a chance by finding new goals, work, friends etc. to make it more interesting to live.

Starbucks: There constant meeting place for discussion of their issue known as suicide and their future plans for life

The entire novel is cut into three portions and said in first person narrative by four different characters. The author wanted the readers to understand the characters issues regarding life and also their individual journeys and stories to better understand the characters as well as for better entertainment.
